Who can receive the federal funds?
The federal law specifies that “eligible
recipients” for program implementation include
“state, local, and regional agencies, including
nonprofit organizations, that demonstrate an
ability to meet the requirements of this
section.”
For approved infrastructure
projects, the funding recipient will
be the local Act 51 agency (i.e.
city, village or county road
commission). For approved noninfrastucture projects (i.e.
education, encouragement or
enforcement programs), the funding
recipient will likely be the school
or the school district, but it can
also be a local nonprofit.
