How does a SR2S program work?
A school
forms a SR2S team consisting of school
administrators, teachers, parents,
student leaders, law enforcement
officers, road authority
representatives and other community
members who are interested in
children’s health and safety. The
team then works together to
assess parent and student attitudes
and behaviors and
analyze the physical environment
leading to the school. The team then
formulates recommendations based on
their findings and creates an
action plan for making
improvements. In Michigan, this
planning process is detailed in the
SR2S Handbook.
