Travel Behavior Tally
What is it? An in-class "show of hands" survey.
Who receives it? All grades kindergarten and up.
How is it administered? In the classroom, on paper (no online option). For one week, a teacher asks the class "how did you get to school today?" and "how do you plan to get home after school?" The teacher then records the number of hands for each answer (e.g., walk, school bus, parent's car).
Why is it administered? To determine the baseline number of students walking and biking to school.
When is it administered? The survey can be administered anytime. The preferred surveying times are fall (September-November) and/or spring (March-May).
Where do I get it? Request from Dr. Christine Vogt at Michigan State University via the survey request form.
