Safe Routes to School training

All attendees will receive:

  1. The Safe Routes to School Handbook, an easy-to-use guide that explains how to start and sustain a Safe Routes to School program. Attendees representing a registered elementary or middle school or a qualified non-profit will receive a hardbound copy (one per school/agency). All other attendees will receive an electronic version of the Handbook.

  2. A CD containing templates of flyers, letters, surveys, press releases and more that can be customized and used to promote and evaluate your program.

  3. Hands-on experience in using the Handbook, including effective strategies that will help get your program up and running.

  4. Information on funding sources available to Safe Routes to School programs.

  5. On-going support from the Michigan Fitness Foundation and its network of transportation, health, and safety officials and educators.

  6. Lunch, refreshments and all training materials.

There is no charge to attend, but space is limited and pre-enrollment is required. Call 1-800-434-8642 or e-mail acawthray@michiganfitness.org to enroll.

Additional training information:

  • Schools and organizations can send up to two (2) trainees.

  • Participants should dress comfortably and for the weather; a walking audit occurs under all conditions except severe storms.

  • Trainings may be cancelled for insufficient enrollment—or added.

  • Pre-enrollment for training is required.
